How are you?
My name's Paulien.
I'm an Amsterdam-based fashion designer. Before setting up my studio in Amsterdam, I studied textile and fashion design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague.

In 1994, I started the label Fashion Of The 3rd Kind. My first collection, The Coloured Skins Parade, consisted of tattoo-like designs made of pantyhose. This collection formed the basis for a series of club wear. Then, there was the Unique Uniforms collection, followed by Some Variations on the Black Dress.

I'm passionate about inventing and working with new materials and techniques. For me fashion is an aesthetic discipline. I don't abide to the rules of fashion. And so rather than presenting a collection at regular intervals, I design what can best be described as a continuous flow of innovative, punk-chic, street and club wear.

Key terms: experimental club wear, avant-garde, fashion of the 3rd kind, punk-chic, underground fashion, extravagant outfits

Target group: stylish individuals who, at least momentarily, want to be either:
- cute
- attractive
- sexy
- eye catching
- from the 3rd kind
